Finally, Metro Skywarn is going to shake things up a little bit!
In their 2010 Spring Newsletter, it was stated that instructors will be required to have class participants take that test at the end of the training classes, and that spotters must pass with a 70% or better to be a spotter. Also, instructors will be required to use the same set of slides (which apparently wasn't happening).
So hopefully now, we can start seeing a decrease in the amount of silly and uncalled for spotter reports. We don't care that there is lightning. We don't care that it is dark. We don't care that the wind has "really picked up." Maybe now we can start getting only REPORTABLE conditions to net control and the NWS. I personally believe that this is a step in the right direction.
