A slight risk of severe weather for central and southern MN today as a surface boundary drops southeastward. I would think tornado chances are slim and none. Hail and wind are the main threats, and once the sun sets, that will just about kill any chance for severe weather. So, heads up late afternoon and evening.

Cells are popping from Mille Lacs to just south of Superior, WI (one of them being severe). Also from western Stearns County to to near Brookings. When these updrafts are maturing, they have some nice clearly defined edges. The do get the fuzzy look when they are mature, but they can still be severe at that time.

Mesoscale Discussion 1494 is now up for east central MN, the arrowhead, and the northern half of WI. Expecting gusting winds and small hail, but a watch is not anticipated.
