Spotter Network

A great tool for spotters, net control operators, and the NWS. That's right, the NWS in Chanhassen is using it too!

With Spotter Network, you can use a gps with your computer and send reports to the NWS. You can also use it with program such as GRLevel3 and Swift Wx. Spotter Network allows you to send real time reports, with accurate locations. Better yet, net control and the NWS can see your location on the radar and match your report with what radar is telling them.

Also, if you use it while mobile, your loved ones can go to spotternetwork.org and see your location.

And just for further info Isanti County Skywarn does have a group on Spotter Network. So if you register on the website, you can then join a network/group for different orginizations accross the state.

Did you know that in early 2009, Spotter Network requires that you take a training course and pass a test in order to make a report on SN?

Use the code "spotternetwork2009". You must register with the same email you have used to register on the Spotter Network site.

Why is this required? Simple! Spotter Network is holding its members responsible for poor or false reports!!! Finally! I think this is a huge step in the right direction for any Skywarn group. Stop the bad reports!!!!!
