Reporting Severe Wx Through Email Empty
PostSubject: Reporting Severe Wx Through Email   Reporting Severe Wx Through Email Icon_minitimeSat Jul 19, 2008 12:09 am

We do have some members of Isanti County Skywarn that are not ham radio operators. And because we want them to be able to participate, we have set up an email address that will allow those members to make reports via email. This will be similar to the NWS eSpotter program, but it won't go to the NWS right away, it will go to Isanti County Skywarn Net Control.

Here are some criteria that should be met when making the reports via email:

1. If it is an emergency or life threatening situation, call 9-1-1! Email is not a fast way of reporting.
2. The subject line should be used and it should relate to the report. For example: "Hail Report"
3. Because email may not always be timely, your reports should have the date and time of when the incident occurred. Also indicate if the time is estimated or exact.
4. Please give a detailed explanation about where the incident happened. Using roads and intersections is a good method.
5. For a list of reportable and non-reportable conditions, see the Isanti County Skywarn WX Reports page.
6. At the end of your report/email, you should have your name and spotter ID number. Also, a telephone number may come in handy, depending on the situation.

The email address is:
reports@isantiskywarn.org

We do have some details to work out yet, so there should be more info coming soon.
