My name is Dave and I am a Net Control operator for Stearns County Skywarn. At the request from Craig, I have joined the forum to meet other fellow SkyWarn members and to offer any "limited" insight I might have. lol

I used to live in Princeton and got certified as a Metro Skywarn spotter back in 2004. In 2006 I got married, moved to St. Cloud, and landed in the lap of the Stearns County Skywarn program. After that they say, was history.

I look forward to meeting all of you and talking about the things we love (like severe weather).

Net Control is something I could never do--I want to be out with the storms. I admire those of you that do that. Just listening to Skywarn nets sometimes makes me want to scream, but I don't know what I'd do if I had to actually deal with some of those people (mainly with a large group like Metro Skywarn). Smaller groups aren't so bad and generally run nets that are a little more "loose" (for lack of a better word).

If you know of anyone else in your group that would like to join, please have them sign up. I kinda hope this forum becomes an "East Central MN Skywarn" board with a lot of contributors.

I will certainly pass that along as I have already discussed this forum with another Stearns County Skywarn member and she expressed an interest in following along.

As for net control ops, there are many spotters who feel the exact way as you do. In fact, while I enjoy spotting and being of service in that capacity, I also feel the same way about being in the office and helping to coordinate the effort.

I was nervous about screwing things up real bad, but last year was a great ice breaker and this year I feel more comfortable with MPX and the people I have to "deal with" on a daily/event basis
