Figured I was a bit overdue introducing myself to the group:) My name is Shel and my "child bride" (Mary N0DXH) and I live in Stillwater. We have owned a cabin on the east side of Long Lake in Isanti Co, since 1976, and spend quite a bit of time there during the summer. We have 3 grown children, one of whom is married and one who has a long term significant other. All 5 of them are also hams as well as trained SkyWarn spotters.

I am the Trustee for the local radio club (Stillwater Amateur Radio Assn), and have run the VE sessions for the club since from the begining of the program. My current ham radio interests are primarily in casual HF and mobile operation.

I am wondering why the Isanti SkyWarn group shows a membership of about 17 members, but only 6 have signed up to be able to post messages on this forum? I would love to hear about ham radio and SkyWarn interests and activites from members of the group!

Hi Shel--Welcome to the group.

To answer your question about the number of members on this board:
Most of the Isanti Skywarn members have been around for about a year. I came along late in January of '08 and took over the website to lighten the load for Aaron. I thought this forum could be an interesting place for our group to talk about weather and stuff. So, I started this on 2/19/08. So, I think the answer to your question is a few things:
-It is just now getting to be the "right" time of year.
-Maybe some of the members aren't aware of it yet.
-Maybe some of the members aren't into computers or forums/boards.

When I asked for Aaron's opinion about it, he told me he was unsure of how many people would use it. So, it is somewhat expected. However, I think it will slowly take off (fingers crossed).

Anyway, I hope there are some forums here that you'll enjoy such as the ARES or the Ham forums. If you are into photography, please post some pics there too.
